The John D. MacArthur Campus Library is located in Jupiter, Florida, forty minutes north of the Boca Raton Campus, forty minutes south of the St. Lucie West Campus and ten minutes from the ocean. The nearest large city is West Palm Beach, which is about 15 minutes south.
Our mission as a branch campus library is to provide services similar to that offered students at the Boca Raton Campus. To do this, we have 95% of the online databases and journals that are in the Boca Raton Campus Library. We have 65,000 books in the subject areas taught at this campus and Interlibrary Loan service from Boca Raton Monday - Friday. Library materials held in the Boca Raton Campus Library can be at the Jupiter Campus Library in a few days. Library materials are also borrowed world-wide, giving students and faculty the opportunity to have access to all materials they need, while having the advantages of a small campus library with strong library support staff.
We have three full-time librarians, two part-time librarians, two full-time and one part-time paraprofessional staff. We provide seating for 135, have two group study rooms, study carrels, 19 Internet computers, 5 word processors, equipment for individuals with disabilities, and an area for instructing classes in online library use.
Approximately 95,000 people used our library in 2002. Staff answered 12,000 reference questions and 3,400 Interlibrary Loan requests were filled during that time. For additional information, please visit the MacArthur Campus Library's home page at http://www.library.fau.edu/npb/npb.htm.
